  1. One Sweet World by Dave Matthews Band and Don't Go Near the Water by BB. I like Michael J's Earth Song of the songs listed above. :D
  2. Learning herbology... Do you mean, using medicinal plants as substitute to over the counter drugs? Well, my mom is into this kind of stuff, herbology if that is the right term. Whenever we're sick my mom would first recommend the use of herbal medicines before we jump into using over the counter drugs from pharma's. We stock food by weekly consumption. :)
  3. I'm not fond of Xmas shopping especially when it is during rush hour or days before Xmas. The line is just a killer. What I love about Xmas is the year-end % off sales. But come to think of it, most items on sale are old stock/items of the year. >.<
  4. I do have an account over there, but I'm not sure how it functions. I find it complicated to use in comparison with Facebook. I'm not into Facebook-ing but I do have an account there just to keep in touch with friends, but with my Google+ account, friends I've met via forums I'm registered to.
  5. I like watching CSI series and its other franchises, CSI: NY and CSI MIAMI. My cousin usually joke around teasing me about my having a criminal mind. I find CSI interesting, I don't think being a girl, my interest in watching series like that should be thought offensive or be misunderstood as me having the mind of a criminal. I am a fan of Early Edition, I watched each and every episodes a couple of times. I love HOUSE too, I have DVD copies of all 6 season of this series, I'm lacking season 7. :(
  6. My dad was able to witness this lunar eclipse you are talking about. I remember twas a full moon that night, too bad I didn't hear from the news that there will be a lunar eclipse. However, my dad was outside chilling. He told us the next morning about the lunar eclipse but, we weren't sure he was seeing right. LMAO. Could be just the clouds you know.
  7. With the current e-trend gaining popularity all over the world, everyone is switching their old favorites to its e-version. Just like most of my friends starting to switch from reading traditional books to e-versions of these books. They find it convenient, especially for e-readers with atlas installed as they can easily search the meaning of a unfamiliar word without the help of a hand-carry dictionary. Come to think of it, less popularity of traditional/paper books there will probably less need to cut trees for mass production of printed books. There are books selling millions of copies worldwide, now if the trend goes on, there will be less need for printed copies and e-books price is cheaper. On the other hand, it seems as if time will come that traditional/paper books will be like the manuscripts written in papyrus. Preserved in museums and safe facilities. I've heard thousands of books in some big prestigious library have been disposed. I hope those books were donated to countries in need of decent books for school/educational purposes. So, which is your pick? E-reader and e-books or Paper/Traditional Books?
  8. I read a lot. Preferably I read traditional paper books compared to reading e-books. My work involves a lot of staring at the monitor so, once in a while I would like for a change of environment by reading books. Most of my friends talk about the convenience of using e-reader and purchasing e-books and how cheaper that is compared to buying the real thing. Besides, reading I do sketch when I'm not lazy. I used to paint nature inspired artwork but then... my sister has the same talent and so I abandoned painting just to avoid comparison. :)
  9. I love watching anime and reading manga online. I spend most of my time sitting in front of the PC as my work involves no physical activity. LMAO. Anyhow, one of my recent favorite anime is Skip beat, I'm also currently reading its manga. I prefer reading manga's compared to watching its anime version as most anime doesn't have conclusions/ending.
  10. It depends, if the animals to be freed to their natural habitat aren't the species most wanted by haunters that won't be much of a problem. I guess a national reserve would be most appropriate for animals hunted by poachers. It is not a zoo but it is protected by some agencies of the government where poachers are not allowed and hunting is illegal. This is what we're thinking of an 16hectares agricultural land we own, we plan on converting the area into a reserve area to protect the natural habitat of the area, it is more of a mountain. :P
  11. I love Panda's and Polar Bears. Ops. I think both are species are endangered. Polar bears are going extinct because they're finding it hard to hunt for food plus the arctic ice or something is melting away. Heartbreaking. :(
  12. I pity the guys on the left side though.. They're risking their life for something which is mostly for the benefit the CEO's, the bad side of it the negative effect is causing catastrophic changes. :3
  13. I don't usually use my bicycle as I prefer to walk. Cycling is a good form of exercise, and that is what my dad does everyday. Cycling is good for the heart, not to mention its eco-friendly.
  14. I think it is not because they don't believe but they don't care. They know global warming is happening but because it is not entirely affecting them that they doesn't care. And for those who knows of the catastrophic force that comes along with global warming, some of them can't do anything to help or help themselves, they're the less fortunate ones who are most affected with the changes.
  15. I'm sure the price will go half its price today, the same way how expensive brand new gadgets in the market decrease in value as time passes by. So, one day renewable/alternative energy source such as solar energy via solar panels will be affordable for a number households. :)
  16. Interesting. I haven't seen this one in the market yet? I guess this isn't available nationwide. I remembered watching a docu on one channel and it features a Filipino teacher who came up with an idea of bulb or light with the use of water as he was residing/volunteering in a remote area with no electricity. :3 Can't remember exactly how it worked but it was working for odd reason.
  17. Thanks for posting these tips, its quite helpful. I edited your post and left the tips that we're already practicing at home. Regarding encouraging others to conserve it is quite tough to do they tend to not listen..
  18. People who visit our home finds it amusing to see "Turn the lights off after every use" posted on our wall. That is one way we conserve energy use at home. Also, inside our rooms we have "Please unplug your e-appliances if not in use". These posts reminds us to help conserve energy at home. We have these reminders posted in places we often use, in the kitchen and in our bathrooms. We used to forget a lot and so these reminders we're posted. Besides helping with the utility bill at home it saved our home from being burnt into ashes by leaving appliances plugged.
  19. We don't have so much trash to throw out, come to think of it even if we don't throw out our trash for a week it won't be able to fill up the whole plastic shopping bag we use to segregate recyclables and non-biodegradable. Mom shop for our household needs by bulk that lasts for a week. So we don't need to go out shopping daily.
  20. Nice. Congratulations. I was only able to enjoy my Samsung tab for more than a week, my sister lost mine while she was out having fun. I loved my tab even if I was only able to enjoy its wonderful functions for a while.. It was quite friendly and convenient.. I'm sure you'll be happy with your new tab.. grats again.. :D
  21. Very cool, I have learnt of new things that is eco-friendly and light on the budget. Would like to try some of these... Anyhow, I patronize the use of recyclable materials, so as a way to bond we craft new stuff from old materials available at home. Making sure to build an eco-friendly habit or routine such as conserving water and proper waste segregation. As well as using compact fluorescent bulbs all throughout the house. :)
  22. We used to have a garden on our old ancestral residence until we moved to the City. Now, we can only afford to plant on flower pots. There is a vacant space of land in front of our house but it isn't our land, my mom asked permission if we could use the small space to plant veggies or flowers in front. Hopefully they'll consent to what we would like to do. :)
  23. At home we try to segregate trash, bio-degradable and non-biodegradable waste. I teach my nephews and niece to throw their garbage on proper trash cans and if there is no trash can's available keep them in their bags or pocket till they are able to dispose them properly. I walk every morning and early evening from and to work everyday. We don't have a space for a garden at the back of our home as we live in the City but I try as much as possible to plant flowers on earthen pots. Recommend eco-friendly gadgets and products available in the market to friends and family.
  24. Usually when I'm washing the dishes I save the water after the 2nd rinse of the dishes to cleaning activities, such as cleaning the toilet. Water supply is somehow scarce in our area so we have huge containers at home which we fill up during the night to be used the next day. Anyhow, thanks for the cool tips, simple ways that could help conserve water.
  25. Honestly, it is very rare in my place to see anyone concerned of using recyclable bags. I patronize and commend establishments who offer these types of items in their store. They're contributing awareness to the public, however, not everyone like the idea of using these "green" bags.. as the price is more costly compared to plastic bags. Anyhow, I'm thinking of following your suggestion about carrying a personal environment friendly shopping bag instead of patronizing the use of plastic bags.
