  1. Al Gore, you mean the guy who gained 100 pounds sitting in front of his TV? I think he found it was much less effort to try to get others to do work than to do it himself. Plus he realized that since there was not an instant replacement for power plants clearly the solution was long term and he did not want to miss any sports on TV while standing in the rain waving a sign for the next two years.
  2. has not set their status

  3. Sadly, there is a legitimate difference of opinion on how much this will cost. Clearly, obama has no clue as to what the true cost will be nor does he care. This is nothing more than a way to raise money! It appears that most of the people who voted for it never read the bill and have no clue as to what is really in the bill, also keep in mind that one of the holes in the bill is that some of the major targets are well after obama would be out of office. The next administration can alter this bill if it turns out to be too costly and not achieving the correct results....
  4. Yep, pretty sad state of affairs but that is an accurate summation of the current value system that the current crop of judges live by.
  5. I suspect form past experience, the EU regulations will be more fluff than anything solid, (money)....
  6. "banned from EU in 2017" so, it will be used for the next 8 years, by then they will have made their money and have another product on the shelf for several years, worthless slap on the wrist.
  7. Publicity stunts detract from any real discussion of the subject.
  8. As long as you like sci-fiction is may well be good. So far does not appear to be good enough to make the major theater chains who look for attendance($) rather than hype....
  9. "They dont improve the public means of transport to persuade citizens to use them. " that is a key point and applies everyplace. Very few governments are really doing what they need to be doing to improve public transportation. People cannot use something that is not in place so they have no choice but take private cars. Amazing the number of people that want to restrict cars when people have no other choice. We can talk "green" all we want but FIRST you have to have an alternative IN PLACE for people to switch to....
  10. I don't either, never picked up the habit and given the cost of smokes these days more reason than ever not to! One of obama's first moves was to raise the cost of smoking which hurt the people on the lower end of the scale the most, strange how that worked out! <_<
  11. And, they have a better one planed for next year! :D
  12. Toyota Prius would get my vote, had Toyota's for years and have always gotten good service.
  13. Just as we have a National Trails Day for people to come out and work on hiking trails, Earth Day can serve much the same function, getting people out of the house and into the outdoors. Every park needs volunteers to work on various projects. And on NTD here, we normally get about 200 people on a Saturday. You arrange it so that you have activities for all ages, and mix educational functions along with work details that each accomplish a task that makes the park better. We can get stores to donate food and drinks so it turns into a great social gathering....
  14. Still, that is better than it was a few years ago! You are trying to turn around a large ship, not a paperclip! <_<
  15. When the price comes down to a realistic figure, will try one of these..... <_<
  16. And totally valid considerations in ANY country. The recharge grid has to be in place to support the hybrids but they are in the process of developing better batteries that may well resolve part of the recharge issue. Is nuclear power the answer, maybe but clearly you do have to have power to support a recharge grid before the cars hit the road in any number....
  17. In the US, all of these apply along with "routes that go from where people are to where they need to be". Portland, Or. is working a a system that provides parking at key points on the train routes. Washington DC area has done the same. Banning cars is clearly not the answer since you have to have an alternative in place first. Cheaper is a major factor, people will only stop driving when the alternative is a major cost saving.
  18. Has not got anything to do with being right or left, has to do with the reality that "we" are not totally responsible. That "totally manmade" is a fabrication of the left wing trolls!! Are we responsible for some, of course but 100%, not even close. If we are going to make a change then it has to be done in a responsible manner, "baning" cars sounds good but not realistic.
  19. We have to hope she can out run the law! B)
  20. The NutCases are the ones that truly think the "climate change" to "totally" man made!! <_<
  21. You just have to wonder if this is not a lot of grandstanding, chest pounding BS. There is no definition of "seal products" and you have to wonder if there are any. Then they have a exception that you could drive an 18 wheeler thru. I note also that there is no definition of large-scale trade so as long as they do it on a SMALL scale they can get a way with it <_<
  22. Yes, great idea, only as long at the bus goes all the same places that the cars go to. Buses have never proven a complete replacement for cars but that may be solved by using smaller buses to get to the smaller locations.... In other words, one size does not fit all unless you are a big bus company.....
  23. Ah yes, the cry of the "man-made climate change" nuts. And resistance based on "misunderstandings", no its based on common sense. You can only go to electric cars when you have the infrastructure in place to support them.
  24. Al Gore's head is so far up his butt he has no clue as to what is the answer and what is not! <_<
  25. The word is that Chrysler is going into bankruptcy today, long overdue I might add! One of obama's major mistakes, shoring up the automakers that their own accountants said could not survive without bankruptcy. News just in: Chrysler to file for bankruptcy Some lenders refuse offer to reduce debt, leading to likely bankruptcy filing. But Chrysler expected to remain in business and complete deal with Fiat. Appears that having too much debt did them in, that plus producing cars that people did not want to buy (minor detail)
