  1. At $80,000 I'd expect the band to come round my house and play.
  2. Scans? I just use FreeBSD, and Linux. No problem
  3. I can match the Prius mpg with my basic petrol car (no polluting batteries, or serious technology to go wrong). PLUS, I could buy three of mine for the price of a Prius, and still have change. Thus, if I was in the market for a Prius (I do not have that sort of free money) I could get a cheep car + solar panels for the house + donate towards electing more Greens!
  4. I got the train to work from our new railway station for the first time today: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corby_railway_station However, a weeks ticket to work costs £65, the petrol to drive costs just £30 - should not have such an economical car, then the train would not be quite so expensive :o
  5. One thing that always puts me of owning an electric car is recharging. We do not have a drive, so I would imagine that local kids would keep unplugging the lead out to the street, which would reduce range.
  6. I always thought it complete madness that work (UK) bought frozen packets of ready to cook chips from the Netherlands, but.... We are now getting frozen chips supplied by a Japanese company, which are made in China The brand name is Ever Green Brand, and they are supplied by the Shinyei Cooporation.
  7. If you are old enough to remember Roger Deans prog rock album covers............... http://rogerdean.com/architecture/index.htm :D
  8. How did you manage to post?
  9. If too many of them breed, it would always be the year of the rat Makes the ones at work look tiny.
  10. I read about this on the BBC about a month ago, and have been intending to post....
  11. Anything that encourages people to save energy has to be a good thing.
  12. Looks very much like the Carver ( http://www.carver-worldwide.com ), but then tilting three wheelers are bound to have similarities. A three wheeler can be very safe, if designed well, its a matter of positioning of the centre of gravity. Three wheeled electric, I like the Zap Xebra, a bit more utilitarian, which I like - don't do flash. http://www.zapworld.com/
  13. Makes you think about the effects of your activity. I try not to boil the kettle too often, and always use the correct amount of water. This time of year we do not use the kettle at all, but heat water on the wood burning stove. However, I Google profusely. We purchase our electricity from http://www.goodenergy.co.uk Although, I often wonder if this actually does save carbon dioxide. Plus, some days I go past our local wind farm, and the turbines are all stationary, yet we still have electricity in our home.
  14. Cup of tea or a Google? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7823387.stm
  15. Typical, lots of post while I'm selecting tunes on YouTube B)
  16. I think the reason no one has replied to this post is that its nigh on impossible to issolate one song as a favorite. On a day today level you have your favs of the current time - which you tend to hum a lot. Then there are the classic alltime song, but then there are so many gendres.... Todays fav song, which I've bugged everyone with at work today is Amish Paradise by Weird Al Yankovic ( http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=GsfVw9xxoNY ) As I walk through the valley where I harvest my grain I take a look at my wife and realize she's very plain But that's just perfect for an Amish like me You know, I shun fancy things like electricity At 4:30 in the morning I'm milkin' cows Jebediah feeds the chickens and Jacob plows... foolAmish Paradise lyrics As I walk through the valley where I harvest my grain I take a look at my wife and realize she's very plain But that's just perfect for an Amish like me You know, I shun fancy things like electricity At 4:30 in the morning I'm milkin' cows Jebediah feeds the chickens and Jacob plows... foolAmish Paradise lyrics As I walk through the valley where I harvest my grain I take a look at my wife and realize she's very plain But that's just perfect for an Amish like me You know, I shun fancy things like electricity At 4:30 in the morning I'm milkin' cows Jebediah feeds the chickens and Jacob plows... fool And I've been milkin' and plowin' so long that Even Ezekiel thinks that my mind is gone I'm a man of the land, I'm into discipline Got a Bible in my hand and a beard on my chin But if I finish all of my chores and you finish thine Then tonight we're gonna party like it's 1699 We been spending most our lives Living in an Amish paradise I've churned butter once or twice Living in an Amish paradise It's hard work and sacrifice Living in an Amish paradise We sell quilts at discount price Living in an Amish paradise And I've been milkin' and plowin' so long that Even Ezekiel thinks that my mind is gone I'm a man of the land, I'm into discipline Got a Bible in my hand and a beard on my chin But if I finish all of my chores and you finish thine Then tonight we're gonna party like it's 1699 We been spending most our lives Living in an Amish paradise I've churned butter once or twice Living in an Amish paradise It's hard work and sacrifice Living in an Amish paradise We sell quilts at discount price Living in an Amish paradise And I've been milkin' and plowin' so long that Even Ezekiel thinks that my mind is gone I'm a man of the land, I'm into discipline Got a Bible in my hand and a beard on my chin But if I finish all of my chores and you finish thine Then tonight we're gonna party like it's 1699 We been spending most our lives Living in an Amish paradise I've churned butter once or twice Living in an Amish paradise It's hard work and sacrifice Living in an Amish paradise We sell quilts at discount price Living in an Amish paradise A local boy kicked me in the butt last week I just smiled at him and turned the other cheek I really don't care, in fact I wish him well 'Cause I'll be laughing my head off when he's burning in hell But I ain't never punched a tourist even if he deserved it An Amish with a 'tude? You know that's unheard of I never wear buttons but I got a cool hat And my homies agree, I really look good in black...fool If you come to visit, you'll be bored to tears We haven't even paid the phone bill in 300 years But we ain't really quaint, so please don't point and stare We're just technologically impaired There's no phone, no lights, no motorcar Not a single luxury Like Robinson Caruso It's as primitive as can be We been spending most our lives Living in an Amish paradise We're just plain and simple guys Living in an Amish paradise There's no time for sin and vice Living in an Amish paradise We don't fight, we all play nice Living in an Amish paradise Hitchin' up the buggy, churnin' lots of butter Raised a barn on Monday, soon I'll raise anoder Think you're really righteous? Think you're pure in heart? Well, I know I'm a million times as humble as thou art I'm the pious guy the little Amlettes wanna be like On my knees day and night scorin' points for the afterlife So don't be vain and don't be whiny Or else, my brother, I might have to get medieval on your heinie We been spending most our lives Living in an Amish paradise We're all crazy Mennonites Living in an Amish paradise There's no cops or traffic lights Living in an Amish paradise But you'd probably think it bites Living in an Amish paradise Yesterdays fav song, which exceptionally buged people at work, was Making love to a vampire with a monkey on my knee by Captain Beefheart ( http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=v37Dmaa-e1E - could not find a live version, although I have seen it performed live in 1981) Making love to a vampire with a monkey on my knee The pond shined dry like a ladies compact Lilies leaped like flat green hearts with white hearts Squirting yellow pollen...cocks... Ferns ran like cool spades.. fossils. ..away from rocks Bees echoed dark carbon hums that dashed in nothing Gnats fucked my ears 'n nostrils Hit my brain like hones 'n numbed t' nothing Wings stuck on liquid bones Making love to a vampire with a monkey on my knee The moon poured hollow down my milky leg Splashed still `n moved The wind peed down the willows 'n pricked the needle vine The monkey moved a fur shadow... its soot tail curled in twos Its lips smiled needles.. its eyes rolled loose Her throat broke open... glistened in the dew Red berries dangled like a dream of rubies too Snot muscles ran down her ivory chin 'n tooth within A locket... a pin held fast to then, my love, my pocket deep within 'N senses dangled the chain that clasped me to her then The messenger spoke the wind that blows between our time I sensed you then 'n whispers spin 'n flow in silver dust Around the pointed pin Sent to nothing God, please xxxx my mind for good Making love to a vampire with a monkey on my knee Oh xxxx that thing.. .fuck that poem...eyes crawl out with maggots White cloth bones pile up light thrown blades Rags `n skull.. scoops soil cracks.. .drain screams.. please Take my hand 'n join me... too soon its clutches gleams Making love to a vampire with a monkey on my knee Death be damned... life Pinpointing the fave classic all time best, might take much more time..........
  17. Point is, others should not be able to make what we have paid for obsolete.
  18. In every music collection there is going to be the odd duff CD. Shame you did not hear of the many great and glorious CDs/albums I have.
  19. That was very close!!! http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=qBm2J-gKeUE Sat here with head hung in shame.
  20. Why does it have to use a "specialist" application, whats wrong with .ogg, or MP3? I have a 2000 CD single (will not admit by who) which has a quicktime video on it. I tried playing it on the Mac once, it would not work in OSX, I had to open OS9 to run this "out of date" technology :o
  21. http://www.spotify.com/en/download/other/ If they can't be bothered to support Linux.........
  22. I got a USB turntable for Christmas, so I'll be going back to the record collection I have not been able to play for 20 years. Which should take some time, because I hardly ever get time to listen to my CDs; although I have started listening to CDs at work, when theres no one else around to moan about them.
  23. I went to work as usual and then we've been away to see family No more or less green than usual
  24. Think this article http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/4283117.stm sums up the difficulty for American car buyers, do you go for fuel Independence, or support American industry?
  25. I've always tended to think of Scandinavians as being ahead of the UK on environmental issues. In the UK at present there is certainly a stong feeling of mistrust against all politicians, and that things need to change. Alas, as this weeks Local By-election results show, in some places the British National Party are tapping into this feeling - close seconds in places with no history of standing are unheard of for minority parties.
