  1. I am so sorry but unfortunately this is just the beginning of something far much worse...
  2. Here is just a short shout out for people who, just like me, love to watch TV/Videos on your computer (who needs a TV anyways?). Miro is a free open-source program that lets you download and watch videos, podcasts and even torrent files. Miro works on Macs, PCs and even on Linux. Alright then, when you have downloaded Miro and installed it search for a High-Def channel called "KQED QUEST Science Video Podcast". It’s a science video podcast (duh!?) that has some really nice green documentaries, in High-Definition, like "The Great Switch-Out", "Napa Wineries Face Global Warming", "From Waste To Watts: Biofuel Bonanza" and many others. http://www.getmiro.com
  3. Take 45 seconds and check out this video. http://www.climateprotect.org/ah12 What's invisible now has form. Global warming pollution becomes vivid, graspable, close to home. People watch this ad and say, "Oh now I get it." Do your friends get it? Do your parents and neighbors? Send them this link so they too can understand the link between current energy use and the climate crisis. We think Larry King got it - he premiered the ad on his show last month. Can you tell whose voice it is?! You can forward the Black Balloons ad while you're on our website. Click on http://www.climateprotect.org/ah12 and then click on "Email this page to a friend." Or you can embed the Black Balloons ad into your personal blog or social networking page. Click on http://www.blip.tv/file/291933 and click on "share".

  5. Global warming is melting the Arctic at an alarming pace. This summer the Arctic ice cover was the smallest ever recorded. As a result, a host of countries are seeking to drill for the oil and gas once protected by ice. It's a sad irony. In attempting to secure "rights" to Arctic fisheries, new transport routes, oil, gas and mineral resources, countries gain a vested interest in the continued melting of the Arctic. But the more oil and gas we burn, the faster the Arctic melts and the closer our planet comes to catastrophic climate change. 6. News are reporting here that many fires started because its forbidden to build on land with forests. But if the land and the forest has been burned down its OK to build. Is it just me who thinks this law is kind of stupid and actually encourage people to start wildfires?
  7. It's sad... It really is. Luckily you or any in your family didn't get hurt..
  8. Well, if you use a CRT screen (those big screens) you can save some energy by using blacke or whatever. But really. You don't save much energy anyways. So the bets thing would be to do something else, like changin your lights bulbs or whatever.

  22. Zonbu is a small, small like the mac mini, personal computer. But what’s special about the Zonbu is not that it’s so small, it’s that it’s the first zero-emission personal computer. Zonbu runs on a linux platform with a 1.2 gigahertz processor, 512 meg of RAM and a 4 gigabyte flash card. That’s plenty to satisfy the majority of ordinary computer users. This small environmental friendly computer consumes six times less power than a standard (energy wasting) light bulb. Did I mention the price tag for this beauty? Zonbu only costs $250 dollars. But nothing is perfect in the real world. In order to get more storage space you need to subscribe to the Zonbox service. Zonbox will provide you with software and firmware updates and up to 100 gigs of storage space. It will even offset your Zonbu usage. Zonbox costs $12.95. Keep in mind that if you are currently using an older computer you can actually save those money off your utility bill when you have purchased Zonbu (older computers uses more energy).
