  1. Marijuana is a type of drug that's often made up of flowers, buds, and leaves of the hemp plant called “Cannabis sativa.” For those who are not aware, aside from being an illegal drug (in some countries), marijuana is also considered to be a medicinal herb that has the ability of treating symptoms related to pain, lack of appetite, and even nausea. Though, that's not all; medical marijuana can also be used by people who were diagnosed with Aids, cancer, multiple sclerosis, and even glaucoma. Legality In the U.S., possessing, selling, giving away, or growing marijuana for any purpose is deemed to be illegal by the federal law. Likewise, it's also against the law for medical doctors to prescribe this drug-- no matter what the health condition may be. However, several states in the U.S. have passed laws, allowing people with certain health conditions to purchase marijuana from dispensaries or grow marijuana for their own personal use. Similarly, some states also license and allow people to give away medical marijuana for anyone who needs it. It has been said that if you're going to use medical marijuana to treat a certain medical condition, there's a possibility that the federal government would not prosecute you-- but it's debatable. Medical Marijuana Laws Likewise, the laws concerning the use of medical marijuana also vary from state to state. For those who are thinking of trying this drug, it's advisable to consult a medical practitioner first. Additionally, it's also important to call the state department of health in order to learn more about the laws governing with the use of medical marijuana. Experts' Opinion The medical use of marijuana has been studied for a number of decades. Though, a lot of experts are still skeptic in regard to its efficiency and safety. Some medical experts don't even recommend the use of medical marijuana, because of the following reasons: - The FDA hasn't approved this drug yet. - Despite its so-called efficiency, the use of medical marijuana could trigger adverse side effects, such as impairing one's memory, coordination, and judgment. Likewise, it could also increase the risks of being involved in an accident. - Smoking marijuana could harm your lungs. - It has been discovered that there are a number of legal drugs that work just as well, such as the drugs made for pain relief, and nausea. However, some medical experts do believe that medical marijuana could be beneficial for some, because: - It's capable of providing pain relief, especially when normal pain relievers won't even work or is not safe for use, because of an allergic reaction. - It has the ability of improving one's appetite and relieve nausea, especially to those who are suffering from cancer and AIDS. - It works as an analgesic, that it could also lessen the pain, especially to those who are suffering from chronic pain and neuropathic pain that's commonly caused by amputation, alcoholism, spine surgery, and HIV. Thus, for those who are aware, they turn to marijuana for instant relief. - Medical marijuana has the ability to relax tensed muscles and reduce muscle spasms, as well as shaking.
