  1. In the beginning of its outset, Movember was a small movement founded by a couple of men in Adelaide. They came up with the name of the charity event over a pub gathering and soon decided to turn their quirky idea into reality. They started small, later on adding more men from Adelaide and other big Australian cities to the so called “Movember Committee”. Their idea was to raise money and bring awareness about men’s health problems along with helping other non-profiteers such as RSPCA. Not long after the dawn of Movember, the event kicked off quickly today reaching thousands of men throughout the world. It has since raised more than $174 million after joining South Africa, Europe and North America. For its nation-wide popularity, the Movember movement thanks its supporting community at the official website and throughout the world. With the help of guys such as Tom Rickard ( last’ years Man of Movember ) and smaller companies who try bringing the event to people’s attention, the movement manages to reach more and more people each year and raise money for health research programs. Each and every voice helps bringing the cause to the crowd. The fastest way of supporting the idea is donating to the official website. Along with that, men are encouraged to grow their own mustache and use it to start conversations about the importance of the whole project. Women are able to help, as well, trying to raise awareness amongst family, friends and colleagues. And even tho Movember is all about mo's, not overall facial hair, some creative individuals have managed to bring the cause to their community through rather more abstract ways. But then again, the previously called November, aims to bring men's health to people's attention and any form of help is of an essence. The guys at the official website have seen all sorts of mo' bro teams having registered as fund raisers. Along with the bros, even company teams are welcome to the crew. The Paul's Sydney Cleaning team, for example, has came up with a bunch of fun, engaging posters aiming to use the power of visual content to engage the audience. Here are some of them: We all have different approaches towards engaging our friends and family and the diversity is what makes our attempts alive and evolving. And even though women are not the center of this movement's cause, they are the base of its development. Without the support only a wife, sister or girlfriend can give a man, raising awareness of the Movember cause would be much harder. The future of the prostate cancer medical researches depends on us and if we don't join forces in fighting for our health, no one will. Are you ready to make the first step into creating a better world? What would be your approach towards raising awareness this November? Share your thoughts in the comments.
  2. Colliding with a 20 sq ft container floating just 18 inches above the water surface isn't something that happens every day, yet is possesses great danger for blue water sailors. Facts & Figures: Shipping Container Accidents Despite the fact that about 99% of the vessel transported containers make it to their final destination, an approximate of 1% each year slides down the board and starts its own journey crossing the deep blue ocean water. It may seem like an insignificant omission, yet there are over 160 million storage containers crossing the sea every 12 months, which means over 1 million containers being dropped offshore during a sea storm or because of an accident. And while transported good containers have insurance, the world maritime organizations and shipping companies have little or no obligations at all whether or not they need to report the lost containers or close their eyes when an accident occurs. The Cause: Re urposed Container Homes Despite the government's weak control over shipping containers, innovative thinkers have found a way to reduce Earth's carbon footprint, by putting those left-behind, time-damaged containers to use. After the big wave of log cabins have conquered the world real estate market, many designers have turned their attention to creatively incorporate reused materials in the creation of comfort-size homes. Suffocated by the ever-developing urbanism of metropolitan areas, nature can be barely seen hoping for a ray of sunlight somewhere between the cracks of a central pavement. The need of a sophisticated real estate market which offers Eco home solutions entangled with its surrounding nature had lead to an even grandiose project putting old prefab containers into use. Maintenance of Prefabricated Container Houses Jumping into the world of eccentric architecture does have its benefits in terms of interior and exterior appearance of the future project, yet maintenance is a whole new chapter of the book of modern building. Being a main transportation source for various types of good including hazardous ones, shipping container use resembles a challenging perspective for better living. Old prefab containers may have been previously used as refined oil products, for example, making cleaning a true hell. Yet, many of the widely spread used containers on the world market are nothing short of a time bomb. Potential shipping container goods and previous uses: Transporting bulk carried goods such as grain or wheat. Carrying non-bulk good such as machines or components. Toxic flammable and non-flammable substances. Easily spoiled food. and many more. While radioactive material is certainly out of the topic, as mild radiation could stay around the shipping vessel for years, specific dangerous goods such as flammable gases as well as oxidizing and corroding substances may be a ticking explosive in a newly built dwelling. If being thoroughly cleaned by following specific protocols, such containers may be easily shifted into a pretentious abode. Container Cleaning and Quality Standards Yet, specialists warn it is not a one-man job and certainly not a job for a non-professional. When dealing with hazardous substances, following quality standards is of prime importance. Larger cities in Australia offer a wide variety of certified residential cleaning teams which can guarantee 100% safe and disinfected work environment for further renovation processes, building and living. Needless to say, a not well-disinfected container may cause havoc in the later developed dwelling. It may put the health of its owner at risk, because of unwanted air pollution indoors or simply cause corrosion and damage the structure. But, with the required care and maintenance, reused container homes resemble one of the best Eco residential solutions in years. By offering quality insulation and a strong base structure, storage containers provide an easily modifiable base for the creation of futuristic looking abodes.
  3. Latest researches in oceanology made a stunning discovery about our aquatic-mammal friends, the dolphins. These fascinating creatures use sound waves to locate and communicate with each other, but a closer look at their acoustic capabilities revealed a surprising secret. Stephanie King, leading author from the University of St. Andrews Sea Mammals Research Unit was the first to make this amazing discovery. She was working on a projects and collected acoustic information with her colleagues. The acoustic collection included data from wild bottlenose dolphins around Sarasota bay. She also studies intensively four captive dolphins at the Seas Aquarium in Florida. The data, collected from 1984 to 2009 helped King's team in their research and made a shocking discovery. This intriguing and extremely intelligent creatures were actually communicating with each other by name. Each dolphin has his own signature which according to Discovery news may sound to us humans like something like this: " Hey everybody, I'm an adult male named John and I mean you no harm!". Studies showed that the wild bottlenose dolphins as well as the captive ones were able to develop their own signature with time. They identified each others by a specific whistle which could be sometimes detected up to 20km from the original source. King explained that the bottlenose dolphins emit their signature whistle to announce their presence. These signatures were used for large groups of animals to recognize each other over a huge distance and form a group. Now that you learned these amazing news, don't you want to have a baby dolphin at home? I'm sure I do! These graceful animals are one of the few species which show such intelligence in communicating and understanding their surrounding environment. Unfortunately, not all of us have the resources to build a huge aquarium in their own backyard and take care for a group of dolphins. For those of you who are fascinated by the underwater world and its amazing creatures, I suggest that you start small and buy a couple of neon fishes, they are extremely interactive and fun to watch. And don't forget to take care of their little home. Specialist maids from Melbourne suggest that you change the aquarium's water and clean it up each week to guarantee your tiny, joyful friends' safety.

  5. In March, Victoria's capital city was the country's hot-spot for green building and environmental safety. This exquisite event has met millions supporters through the years striving to educate Australia's population on the benefits of green investments and Eco-oriented lifestyle. Being one of the greenest cities in Australia, Melbourne had been chosen to be hot of this year's Green Cities conference. The event was held at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne where world-leading Eco organizations and specialists joined forces in order to help reducing the carbon footprint of the country. The prime topics, which had been discussed in March 18 and 19, vary from researches on the benefits green buildings for the environment and nature diversity of Australia, to the development of sustainability strategies by the leading industries in the Southern Hemisphere. Main place in the debates took the presentation of Kent Larson, a researcher and director in MIT. Along with topics such as uncovering the opportunities for retrofitting existing buildings, intensely discussed were some outstanding researches on the effect the employees' satisfaction on the success of green building investments. Speakers such as Sean Chiao, the CEO of Buildings and Places and Ann-Kristin Karlsson, the director of WSP Sustainable cities were also an important part of Green Cities 2014 (@GreenCitiesConf). With a huge following and a great cause, the conference got a massive response in the residents of Melbourne inviting more and more organizations to take the path of sustainable living. But being part of a more verdant community is not new to the residents of Melbourne. Cleaning agencies, such as the housekeeping team Cleaning House Melbourne, have long ago adopted the cause of green living by offering Eco-oriented services and applying cleaning methods, well-known to be beneficial for the reduction of the country's carbon footprint. Still, there are goals we are yet to achieve in order to help the the world become a better place for all of us and the Green Cities conference took us one step closer to our aim.

Thanks, Simon! I love it, aswell. :) This photo was taken in Syngapore. It depicts the interior of one of the five Eco Biomes in the city - truly marvelous structures, each one of which is home to a specific Eco system.
