New Member Ranks

Simon

Recommended Posts

This forum currently uses 7 different member ranks. The more posts you have the higher member rank you will have.

We currently use these:

Newbie

Junior Member

Member

Sr. Member

Hero Member

Silver Member

Gold Member

But they don't really fit in to the forums topic. Anyone got any ideas for a few better ones?

We can have as many as you like, but they need to be as many, or more, than the current ones.

I am not keen on the ranking system. I tend to think it encourages people to post pointless posts, just to gain some sort of "status" upon a forum.

700 postings of "VERY FUNNY LOL" do make someone a forum hero :sceptical:

Hehe yeah and thats why this forum needs some new "ranks" that doesn't rate people based on their posts, like the current ones does.

Well, the most obvious ones I can think of, that will match the sites concept will be nice to have related ranks, in accordance with your green status. I can't think of any concrete ideas from the top of my head now, but for me, this idea would be the most natural, and it will fit your forum. I'll come back, when I have a couple of ideas. They may inspire you, to invent ones of your own, and this is always better, as you know what your talking about, as it's your topic. YEY :)

Yeah, I was thinking about something along those lines too, thanks Trulyana!

My pleasure. Any new ideas as of yet?

I can't think of any at this moment, but when I think of something, I'd be sure to post it. :)

But have you ranked those trees based on their "size"?

I think Microorganism is not a good way to great a new member. It makes me think of the name "pondlife" a technical term one is not supposed to use now that we are PC.

That is a good point. Does anyone else agree with this?

For me, this is not a way to say welcome to a new member. Just a way to "rank" members based on how many posts they have made. But maybe you are correct, maybe we should change that one.

UPDATE: What about changing it to "Lurker"?
