is green jute as an alternative to plastic?

few day ago i search something related to plastic recycle and i got this. If any body know about this then please share some information about them.

Jute has many qualities to be an alternative to some plastic applications, it is a noble material, little used, but it certainly will not be an alternative to plastic, at least in terms of the number of applications.

Many of the alternatives to plastic are really bad or just to cheap made to be useful. Like for instanstance the new straws from McDonald's.
