About this blog

Every now and then it is important to conduct maintenance and check if any of your motorcycle parts need replacement. It is important that you check your bike’s oil every five to ten thousand kilometers. Make sure that you follow the recommendations for oil change found in the manual. In order to ensure your bike lives a long and healthy life, changing the oil is critical. The oil is one of the key elements involved in how well your engine will work. In order to change your oil, you are going to need a key for the drain cap, a funnel, a collecting tray, and new oil.

The first thing you have to do is get to the oil tank. By looking in your bike’s manual, you can determine the location of the oil tank and make sure that you access is on the first try. A few other parts may need to be removed in order to get to the oil tank. Once you reach the oil tank, look at it. You’ll see two caps. One of the caps is to the drain at the bottom of the tank, and the other is on the top so that you can easily add more oil. The first thing you need to do is open the top cap so that air can flow into the tank.

Once this has been completed, it is important that you place something under the tank in order to collect the oil you are draining. After this, open the bottom cap. It is best to change the oil when the engine is cool so that you do not get burned. Once all of the oil has drained from the tank, remove the tray and recycle the old oil.  At this point, it is a good idea to go ahead and change your oil filter. Once you finish this step, replace the drain cap. Oil will flow more quickly when hot, but it is unadvisable because you can severely burn yourself when you conduct an oil change while the oil is hot.

Now go to the filler cap. Use the funnel in order to put new oil into the oil tank. If you are unsure what type of oil to use you should consult with your bike’s user manual in order to determine the correct type of oil to put into the engine. Before pouring oil into the tank, double check that you replaced the drain cap, otherwise the new oil will simply drain out, cause a mess, and be completely wasted. Once you have refilled the tank with oil, replace the cap on top of the tank so that you will not have to worry about oil leaking out. Once all of this is finished, simply replace everything that you had to remove. The simplicity or complexity of this job solely depends on your bike. You can find Solo Moto parts that you may need in order to complete the oil change or replace caps or other parts during the process.
