The photographer is Bernhard Lang. The photo gallery shows aerial photographs of the largest opencast coal mining pit of Germany.

Shocking. This shows unfortunately how countries like Germany that invests a lot in renewable energy are still depending on fossil fuels. Germany produces 45% of electricity from coal (worse than the worldwide data, 41%). The photo perfectly explains the duel between fossil fuels and renewable power.
