  1. Soapnuts nature's detergent

Wow that sounds so interesting! I've never really seen them in any stores though, although I'm sure if I searched online it would easily come up. Currently I use Dr. Bronner's liquid soap for my face and body. I figure anything that cuts down on chemicals and is Free Trade must be pretty ok! :)
  2. What movies are you interested in seeing this summer?

I already saw Friends With Benefits and Bad Teacher. I didn't love Bad Teacher so I'm glad I got those tickets for free and didn't pay for them. Friends with Benefits was an amazing romantic comedy in my opinion, and I'm so glad I actually decided to splurge and see that one at the theaters. While I love James Franco, and a lot of the other actors in Rise of the Planet of the Apes, for some reason I just don't feel compelled to go see it in the movie theaters. I feel like I can wait to Redbox that particular movie. The only other movies I've really wanted to see are Harry Potter, The Help, and the Glee Live 3D movie. I'm a huge Harry Potter book fan, but never really got into the movie. I mostly just wanted to go because it was the last movie, and in essence the last hold on my Harry Potter childhood. I just decided to reread the series instead and I'm glad I made that decision instead. The Help looks really good (and I love Emma Stone), but I feel like it's another movie I can wait for a DVD release. Probably won't get to the Glee movie since it's only open for 2 weeks, and I don't really have anybody to watch it with. I just saw the trailer for the new Spiderman reboot, The Amazing Spiderman. I'm VERY excited for that release next year. I've always had a soft spot for Spiderman and it seems like this new movie franchise reboot is going to follow the actual storyline of the comic book verse much more closely.
  3. Prices of going to the movies

I don't really go to the movies much anymore either. I tend to only go if there's a movie I really want to watch on. If I am going to the movies I try my best to get the best possible price. I often go see matinees, especially if it's a 3D movie. I also try to pick movies that I want to see that often will look better and more impressive in the theater (say Transformers 3 over Bridesmaids).
  4. Do you use bicycle?

I wish I could walk/use a bike to get to places. However, I live in a small town and so any place I would go is over 15 miles away. Also, it makes me a bit weary, as I am a young girl and as much as I love the environment, I also love not being a kidnap victim I also attend college in a city that has very poor public transportation. So while I do bring my car with me, I don't use it that often. I do wish I lived somewhere with better public transportation, but if I ever move to a bigger city (i.e. NYC or Boston) then I will definitely take advantage of the public transportation.
  5. I would actually say overconsumption trumps overpopulation in a lot of ways. The population of a country doesn't always have much of a bearing on how much energy they waste. Take the US for example. Compared to many countries, we have a pretty even ratio of people/population to land area. Yet, we waste so much of the world's natural resources. As a whole, our countries carbon footprint is astronomical, and unlike some European countries we seem not to care much about trying to find alternative energy sources. There's a statistic I've heard many times that only 20% of earth's population use up 80% of the resources, and I definitely think that's true. On the other hand overpopulation can and will to some extent always be a less controllable factor. The larger a country's population, the more resources they'll use up, even if they keep their use at a low borderline. I think in the end that education is the best tool for everything. Educating about the dangers of overpopulation, proper birth control methods, how to reduce resource use and waste. And especially drive home the point about the future effects and how such things could effect one's children or grandchildren. I feel that people are more likely to listen to what you say if you remind them that their actions now have very far reaching implications.
  6. Hello Everybody! :)

Hi guys! I just stumbled onto this forum today, and I'm so glad I did. I'm a college student from the US and I've been trying to live more "green", but apart from just the usual recycling and conserving water I want to do more. I feel like this place will be a great way to discuss and bounce ideas off of each other. So once again, hi all and I hope I add some useful things to discussions! :)
