  1. I am not that active in caring for the environment nor did I join organizations for maintaining a green community. But I love to take care of it in my own little ways. I do the following to help: Throws garbage at the garbage bin Cleans all litters in the surroundings Recycles all the reusable materials so that it won't just go to waste Unplugs all unused appliances Conserves water Plants trees and other green plants Walks as much as possible to help reduce air pollution Uses reusable materials like cloth grocery bags and reduce the use of plastics I hope everybody would be more aware that we have to do something for Mother Earth. You, what do you do to help?
  2. What's your occupation?

Hello everyone! I made this thread because i am curious as to what everybody does for a living. I work from home at the moment. My earnings are not as big as I want it to but I am quite satisfied by the fact that I can still look after my kids even if I am working. And it's been a great help for my husband. Now, I don't run out of cash anymore. Now guys, it's your turn to share what you do. What's your job? If you are still studying, you can indicate the job of your parents too. :)
  3. Healthy and environmentally friendly diets

I too did not understand what zuulspaceman said. LOL On the topic: I also eat meat and veggies and fruits. But I try to eat the last two more 'cause I know they are better for the body. I like cabbage, spinach, radish, potatoes and sweet potatoes. I also like citrus fruits with the sweet and sour tastes.
  4. How do you get to where your going?

I'm a money saver type of person so I prefer walking to get to the place I am bound to go. Sometimes, I can go even in long distances using just my feet. I do not own the bike that I use so I don't get to bike often. For really long distances like miles, I ride the bus or any PUV in order to get to the place I am going to.
  5. How do you conserve energy?

I also conserve energy through the following ways: unplugging all unused appliances lessening the use of TV and electric fan specially when it is cold outside I don't use flat iron at all I use netbook instead of desktop PC charging my cellphone fully so that I don't have to charge it over and over again turning on the lights only when it is dark using bulbs that has low wattage I guess that would be all. :)
  6. Effects of Global Warming

I totally agree. In the future, there are more to expect. I just hope that it won't be that worse. I read in article the possible effects of global warming in the future and here's a part of it: Source: Overview of Global Warming Let's just pray that the Earth will still be a good place to live in, in the next years to come.
  7. Soapnuts nature's detergent

It's my first time to hear about this as well. So I researched in the Wikipedia and I found out that the shrub has many uses besides being a detergent. It can also be made as cosmetics and remedies like mucolytic agent, emetic, contraceptive and for treatment for excessive salivation, epilepsy and chlorosis.
  8. How our economy is killing the planet

The graph posted here very well explained how fast the planet had been destroyed over the years. And with great differences, huh? Which just proves that our environment is already at worst. What more in the future? Oh I can't stand it just imagining how it would be in Earth 20-50 years from now. Well, I guess the damage is irreversible. All we can do is preserve what we have now and try to make a change even for simplest ways.
  9. Do you use green bags?

Yes! I try to use it as much as possible when buying things at the grocery. Plastics are made to be disposable and I don't want to add up to the huge pile of plastic garbage here in our area. Though I cannot completely avoid plastic materials in the house. Most items are packed in plastics that's why.

  16. Well, we can do whatever we want with our lives. But do we really want to do anything? I mean, can we take the consequences if we go beyond the rules? I personally believe that everything has a limitation that's why we have rules and the law. Did you ever imagine what would happen if we don't have that? Well, maybe the world would be a horrible place to live in. I really think that we would never go wrong with following the rules as they are set to control everything to its proper place.
  17. Green Songs

I tried to think of any "green songs" and here are what I found: Heal the World - Michael Jackson You Raise Me Up - Westlife Mother Nature Needs Us - The PJ Grand Band Pray - Justin Bieber I try to think more but for now, those are all I can think of. :)
  18. Hi all Greenbloggers!

LOL. I meant I am now living in the Philippines. Peace Thanks Zara! Nice to see you here. Hello joydyats. I am enjoying it already, thanks and God bless. Thanks a lot Simon! I am glad to become a part of this noble forum which concerns the environment and clean living. Thanks too for putting this up. It's great to be here.
  19. Do you smoke?

I did try to smoke back when I was on my teens. Well, it's out of curiosity I think. But now, I never did it again. I know that nicotine results in certain serious illnesses and I don't want to suffer from those. Besides, I love my kids and I don't want them to inhale the second-hand smoke if ever.
  20. How do you stay fit?

Well, I try to stay away from fatty foods. And I try to eat more fruits and veggies. I do not exercise but I always walk as long as I can when going outdoors. I am also doing household chores which I think is also a form of exercise. Well, I like to buy a treadmill someday so that i would have the exercise that I really want.
  21. How are you today?

LOL Zara, I know exactly how you feel. My neighbors a lot like yours. Even if a party is not happening, they tend to scream at each other with just normal conversations. I don't know if they don't hurt they throat but I am the one who gets tired of the screaming that they do. They also love to sing and the karaoke would be really loud. Well, anyways I just feel a bit tired today. But apart from that, everything's fine. I just hope that tomorrow, it would be just the same. :)
  22. What are your favorite foods?

My most favorite foods are ice cream, lasagna, pizza and fried chicken. I also love Filipino dishes that I got used to eat. I love to eat and just like Zara, my metabolism works fast so I stay slim no matter how many foods I take.
  23. Green Lifestyle

When shopping in the grocery, I use cloth shopping bags instead of plastics. I also plant once in a while in our garden. Plastic materials that can still be used are what I recycle into more useful things like pencil holder, picture frames, and ornaments. That way, they won't just be added to the waste in the dumpsites.
  24. New recipes?

Well, I love this native dish which my father taught me back when I was in my teens. Ginataan (or guinataan) is a Filipino cooking method that means “cooked in coconut milk”. Ginataang Tilapia is a dish where Tilapia (a fish belonging to the tilapiine cichlid tribe) is cooked in coconut milk (or cream) and served with banana peppers. This method is popularized by the Bicolanos, the fifth-largest Filipino ethnolinguistic group that lives in the southern islands of Luzon. 2 lbs tilapia, cleaned (about 1 kilo or 2 to 3 pcs) 3 cups coconut cream 3 cloves garlic, minced 1 bulb onion, finely sliced 1 knob ginger, cut into strips 1-2 banana pepper 1 tbsp. fish sauce (patis) 1 tbsp shrimp paste (bagoong) ¼ cup cooking oil 1 cup fresh spinach (or mustard leaves) How to cook: Step 1: Sauté garlic, ginger, and onions in hot oil Step 2: Add the shrimp paste and fish sauce Step 3: Pour in the coconut cream and stir until natural oil from the coconut cream comes out Step 4: Add the banana pepper and simmer for 3 to 5 minutes Step 5: Lower the heat and add the tilapia and Simmer for 7 to 10 minutes Step 6: Add the spinach and simmer for about a minute Step 7: Serve Hot. Enjoy!
  25. Do you use bicycle?

I have always loved biking. Even though I just learned how when I was already 21 years old. I use bike to go to the market, and to the stores nearby. I had my exercise and I get there fast as well. It makes me feel alive when I use it, maybe because of the fresh air.
