Question: What is a "green" web host?
Answer: A green web host normally power their data-centres and offices with renewable energy such as solar and wind power. Some green web hosts choose to buy energy credits (also known as RECs or Green Tags) to make their hosting green. This is not the best way to be a green web host on, but it is a start. A green web host is something you should choose if you wan’t to fight global warming and save this planet (our only planet) from climate change (global warming).

Question: Are green web hosts more expensive?
Answer: This is a tricky question. Yes, green web hosts are usually a bit more expensive. But it all depends on how green they are and what kind of needs you have. If you look at it the other way you will see that green web hosts is not that expensive in the long run. Using green web hosts is normally very much appreciated by your visitors and blog readers.

Question: Are you affiliated with any of these green web hosts?
Answer: No. We are not affiliated with any of these web hosting companies and we will never be. We think it’s more important to give you an an unbiased assessment of the web hosts than to risk our reputation just to be able to earn a few dollars.

Question: Does Green Blog use an environmental friendly web host?
Answer: Yes. At the moment we use Acorn Host, one of many hosts you can find in our Green Web Host List.

Question: Which green web host is the best?
Answer: We have only rated the web hosts depending on how green they are. We can’t say which host has the best support etc. You are welcome to tell us your opinions about one or several of those web hosts by either sending us an email (info[at]green-blog.org) or joining our forum.

Question: Can you help me move my blog to the new green web host?
Answer: Please ask your current web host or the new web host about help with your move. Some wen hosts will help you move. You can also check out this guide: How to make a backup of your host account. But please ask in our forum if you have any questions about the move.

Question: I have moved to a green web host, what should I do now?
Answer: Please contact us and we will add it to the (growing) “Hall of Fame” list. We will also tell everyone about your blog on our own blog and community.
