"Doomsday Tourism"

Simon

Recommended Posts

The increased threat of climate change and environmental degradation is effecting the world of tourism. Travelers are flocking to critically endangered habitats and ecosystems before they vanish.

Read it!

One might ask, "Is it appropriate, or even ethical, to travel to threatened destinations?" Does it help make climate change more visible?

Yes, I think it makes climate change and the degeneration of endangered habitats much more visible and compounds the problem.

I've seen areas where they restrict the number of visitors in the hope that this would slow down the process - although restricting access to an area all together, until the ecosystems have re-established themselves, might be a more realistic option.

I wonder what other solutions to this problem are out there, and working?
