About this blog

Well, not everyone is lazy, but most people don’t have plenty of time to dedicate to gardening within their busy lives. But that doesn’t mean you should forget about ever having a beautiful garden. It’s not impossible at all, in fact there are many types of amazingly aesthetic gardens and fixtures that suit a busy lifestyle. The main factors that take time in gardening are pruning, trimming, watering and weed-killing. These garden ideas need nearly zero of all these things, so you can simply install them, decorate and leave them be with little maintenance needed. You’ll thank yourself later.

1.    Install Mini Greenhouses: Mini greenhouses are portable, easy to install and can hold a number of plant pots that you choose. If you have a small backyard, it will be easy to fit mini garden greenhouses in such a space, or you can have them inside your home by a window. As they are built for small plants, you can place several in them all at once so you can have a variety of species and colors. Make sure to choose plants that are low maintenance, so you won’t have to take care of them often.

2.    Pair Plants Against An Artificial Grass Turf: Don’t actually plant flowers under artificial turf, they won’t grow for sure! A much wiser option would be to purchase a small turf or an artificial grass rug or placemat as a base for a potted plant. Or a couple. This adds a fresh, green background to your plant and all you’ll have to worry about is taking care of the actual plant. Artificial turfs are a great decor piece as they are great to look at and will last a long time with zero maintenance needed.

3.    Build A Zen Garden: Zen gardens are extremely low maintenance, tasteful rock gardens originating from Japan. Alternatively known as Japanese rock gardens, zen gardens are minimalistic as they mainly consist of white pebbles (instead of grass) and large rocks as decor. The result is a clean aesthetic that looks serene and emphasizes the space of the area. Though it may be initially hard work to cover your ground, buy rocks and pebbles and rake them into place, afterwards you’ll rarely have to lift a finger. Why? Because there are no plants to water, prune or clear of weeds.

4.    Utilise Cactus Plants: This one is a bit of a no-brainer. If you really want plants in your garden but you really don’t want to water, prune or remove weeds, then cactus flower plants are the answer to your dilemma. Install a few pots strategically across a plain or barren garden space or use them in certain areas of your home. Just be careful and situate them on elevated areas if you have children to minimise the risk of them getting pricked. Or basically any areas where hands wander often.

If you think about it, having a ‘lazy garden’ is not only better for a busy lifestyle, but can also make your home more eco-friendly. This is because you are consuming less to maintain your garden (in terms of water, fertilizer, etc.), which in the end does the environment (and yourself) a big favor
