Today Green Blog is proud to announce the launch of the Green Investigation! The first mission the Green Investigation has is to find, investigate and report back here on Green Blog about “green” sites and blogs that aren’t really that green. First out is the blog A Green Life.
A Green Life has been around since December 2006. This is what they say about themselves:
A Green Life is a new blog, dedicated to living green and with conscience. Our goal is to pass on our own experience of living a green life without a lot of outlay, thus demonstrating we can all live that little bit greener and contribute our bit to looking after our planet.
We spend our days looking for workable solutions to everyday issues - from finding a green way of cleaning your home to helping trace the very latest methods of conserving energy and reducing pollution.
Sounds great? Yes it really does. Spreading green news is great and we wouldn’t want you to go offline. You even have Green Blog in your blogroll. But if you look under the green shining template you will find a blog that really isn’t that green. A Green Life is not hosted with a green web host.
If you check out the Name Server for www.agreenlife.info you will see that the name server is NS1.DNSEASY.NET and NS2.DNSEASY.NET. A quick Google search for NS1.DNSEASY.NET let us find the host that uses DNSEASY.net as name servers.
A web host called 007-webhosting.com is currently hosting A Green Life. There is nothing on their site that mentions the environment in any way. 007-webhosting.com is not a green web host. But our super knowledge about hosts told us that 007-webhosting.com seems to be a reseller host. So we decided to find the host that 007-webhosting.com uses. Maybe they are green?
After a few investigations we managed to find out that the “Bond” host is hosted on Euroconnex.net. Euroconnex is a hosting company from Europe. They own data centres around Europe (United Kingdom, France, Amsterdam, Germany, Austria and Hungary). But Euroconnex.net is not either a green web host.
So if you Eliza, the owner of A Green Life, read this. Please, check out our Green Web Host List, contact us or join our community so we can help you find a green and suitable host for your green blog.

Well, actually, I host my own blogs with a reseller account. My actual host may not be “green”, but I am. My small time hosting and design company already contributes a great deal to green causes, and if I ever find a green hosting company that provides the facilities I need at a cost I can afford then I may consider relocating the 30+ blogs I would have to. My own research shows that many webhost companies only claim to be green, or offer compensatory measures by donating to various green organisations myself. That, I can do myself.
But yes, thank you for your investigative journalism on my website. It was, most enlightening.
